Buddhist Monk

I take Morgan and Lilly to the buddhist temple on a Sunday for meditation and tai chi lessons.  I took my sketch pad today and tried to capture the joy in the faces of the monks as they walked past.

Merman

I've had a re-occuring dream over the last few days involving a reserach station in the middle of the ocean and merfolk.  Its snatches and I cant seem to hear the story... am hoping by sketching them it will come clearer.

Todays picture is of one of the mermen - pressed up against the large glass observatory windows overlooking the depths within the station.

My lack of knowledge of male anatomy requires me to go and perve at men in gyms... purly for artisitc purposes - obvioulsy.... any takers?

First Brush

Just a sketch of the horror the character felt in the story First Brush. Not enough emotion or angst in the stance.  might have to have another go at this

Chinese Wisperings logo

I was very honoured to have been asked to draw a simple line drawing of the Chinese Whisperings logo for thier twitter account.

Simple line drawing - easy!! ha ha.. I have a dozen sketches, and as many crumpled up pieces of paper around my area as I have attempted to capture the simple beauty of the model.  Ihave been trying to draw this for a week and have failed miserably...Here are the best so far.

Oh - DO pop over to the site - I have one of my short stories published there - as well as been included in the Red Book - 2009s anthology.

The stuff of dreams

So why don't you sleep much Annie?
If this is what you expected to be met with every night, would you be keen to sleep? Its not even the images - but its the hot breath, the ripping noises, the sticky blood and very often the pain.

so no - I don't sleep much and when I do, I pray not to dream

Lone Dancer

I watched Morgan and Lilly at their dance classes yesterday - first lesson back.  Their teacher is so graceful, fluid, beauty itself when moving.  This is a quick sketch I did to capture a moment in class as she was demonstrating something.

Robot - with help

I sat during lunchtime today and asked Morgan - my 6 year old what I should sketch.  I was at his school volunteering at the tuckshop and then in the classrooms for the day.

He told me to draw a robot.  Ekkk I thought..... I'm not one for technical drawing - anything with angles as far as I am concerned is technical. ..... buildings, vehicles etc.  But the pleading look got me and his utmost confidence that I could pull it off...

Well - I have only posted it here as its my challange to do so.

I asked Morgan what a robot looked like or had.  He suggested a monkey face made of metal and a big roller wheel at the bottom.  He aslo wanted the robot to have a big hammer to squash baddies with. So I drew and he pointed and suggested bits.. and this is what we came up with....

I am so not a detail person.... ( is that like saying I'm not a romance / sci fi/ non fiction etc writer?)
